In Your Country is a new, independent blog for ESL and EFL teachers who love bringing original, creative activities into their classrooms. I’m the kind of teacher who likes to work with a textbook, but also enjoys creating engaging, low-prep supplemental activities that you probably won’t find in a book.

I’m an anonymous ESL teacher, only anonymous because this is my first attempt at blogging. I’d like to be sure that I’m good at this before I put my name on it. In case you’re curious, here’s a little about me:

I teach ESL in a little language school in a big city in the United States. I have a master’s degree in TESOL and over eight years of teaching experience. I’ve taught all age levels, from 2-year olds to senior citizens, but these days I teach adults, which I like best. Aside from teaching, I have a background in writing, and I’ve done a little work in creating educational materials and assessments.

One day, maybe my blog will be the second one that shows up when new teachers type the word “ESL” into Google. And then maybe I’ll get a major book deal, and I’ll become a rich and famous international teacher-hero. (I can dream, right?) But realistically, I’m hoping that this blog will help me (a) organize my ideas in one place, (b) help other teachers come up with ideas, and (c) eventually find a way to make a living as a part-time teacher, part-time writer.
